Garden Park
Garden Park was inspired by a passage from Robert Adams’ Beauty in Photography that deeply resonated with me: "Gardens are in fact strikingly like landscape pictures, sanctuaries not from but of truth... a safe wayside for travelers, built from the local geography, but still and clarifying". Adams also notes that the word paradise comes from the Persian term for “a walled enclosure”. This etymology reflects how I see the Dutch community gardens, or Tuinparks, scattered across Amsterdam. These spaces feel like a world within the world, running parallel to the city outside. Through this series, I explore the stillness and clarity they offer—a refuge for those who wander through them.
